First Annual Penobscot River Catch and Release Striped Bass Tournament
June 21 - July 26, 2008
To further the knowledge of striped bass behavior in our northern environment. CCA is working with researchers from the University of Maine, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Maine Department of Marine Resources (DMR), and you to help gather striped bass behavior information. So how can you help? All anglers participating in the tourney will be asked to keep angler logbooks. Logbooks will be provided to anglers to record information about size and location of catch. Winning prizes will be awarded on July 26th at the Penobscot River Revival on the Bangor Waterfront.
Special Note: Due to circumstances beyond the Coastal Conservation Association of Maine's control, the striped bass tagging component of the tournament has been cancelled, however the tournament will still occur. We hope to continue working with local research efforts to learn more about Penobscot River striped bass behavior in the future.
Complete tournament rules are available online at www.cca-maine.org/penobscot_rules.php
